This Privacy Policy describes how Harvest Hub Limited ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares your information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • User Information: When you create an account with Harvest Hub, we collect your email address. We use Firebase Authentication for account creation and management. A unique user ID is assigned to your account, which controls your access to features within the App based on your role and associated organisation.

  • Organisation Information: We collect information about organisations, including their name, farms, and farm lines, to properly configure and manage the App for their use.

  • Location Information (Optional): The App allows you to optionally collect and store fine-grained location information for both research data points and inspection instances at the time of creation. This data is only collected if you explicitly choose to enable this feature. This location data, when collected, is stored in Firestore and is used to display the locations of your data for analytical purposes within the App.

  • Device Information (Optional): If you choose to collect location information, the App also collects device information (using the device_info_plus plugin) at the time of creation of research data points and inspection instances. This information is stored in Firestore and is used for purposes related to AI training.

  • Photos and Videos: The App captures photos as a core function for both research and inspection use cases. These photos are stored on Google Cloud. Videos are collected for the research use case and are also stored on Google Cloud.

  • Inspection Data: The App collects data related to harvest inspections, including dimensions and meat yield, generated through AI predictions and computer vision analysis of photos. This data is associated with the inspection instance.

  • AI Training Data: The App facilitates the collection of research data (including photos, videos, and field data) required to train the AI model. This data is stored on Google Cloud.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information for the following purposes:

  • Providing and Improving the App: We use your information to operate, maintain, and improve the functionality of the App, including AI model training and providing inspection results.

  • Account Management: We use your email address to create and manage your account and to communicate with you about the App.

  • Data Analysis: Location data (if collected) and inspection data are used to provide you with analytical insights within the App.

  • AI Training: Device information (if collected), photos, videos, and field data are used to train and improve our AI models.

  • Sharing Inspection Information: The App allows users to share inspection information via email. This functionality uses your device's default email client, over which we have no control. We do not access or store the content of these emails.

Information Sharing

We may share your information with the following parties:

  • Service Providers: We share information with Google Cloud and Firestore for data storage and Firebase for authentication services. These service providers are contractually obligated to protect your information.

  • Organisations: Information related to inspections and AI training data may be shared with the organisation associated with the user who collected the data.

  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose your information if required by law, legal process, or governmental request.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. However, no data transmission over the internet or electronic storage method is 100% secure.

Your Rights

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the updated Privacy Policy within the App.
